Dorky Destiny
Sometimes Lu's dorkiness worries me. I can feel the embarrassing moments unfolding in front of her — distant ones like when she will insist on getting the ugliest perm in the world, or the time she will get in trouble during P.E. because she tries to sneak a book into the gym, or when she will fall down in the student center in front of a bunch of really cool seniors. Even at two and a half, her lack of coolness is very clear. I am trying not to project my own dorkiness onto her, but does this look cool to you:

As an eyewitness to this spectacle, and the person responsible for the silly hat, I must say that I thought it was super cool. But not too cool as to be not cool, if you know what I mean. Just cool enough. She's comfortable enough in her own skin not to allow anyone else's expectations or pressures to taint her pure unadulterated enjoyment of the moment. As Lucy instructed her enraptured audience of onlookers, "Everybody say yay!"
I think it must have been the care put into finding the right hat. Proper costuming can make you cool(ish).
