The Princess Diaries

At 4:30 this afternoon, Lucy began referring to herself as "the Princess." She was wearing a long gold gown, a crown with crazy chiffon...thingies hanging off of it and the usual high-heeled, plastic mules.

"The Princess is really thirsty."

"The Princess needs a snack."

"The Princess wants some macaroni."

"Is this an early dinner? The Princess wants an early dinner."

After bath: "Look, Mom, the Princess is not stinky. I'm a princess burrito."

"Nooooo, not bedtime. Actually, the Princess is not tired."

"The Princess wants to read Arnie the Donut." Again.

The Princess went to sleep some time between 10:15 and 10:59.

The Court is very tired.

When she stayed at our house, she slept on "the princess pallot," aka sleeping bag. She kept asking me, "Princesses are very brave, right?" Right, Lu.

And I LOVE that she says the word "actually." How brilliant is that?!?

And she told me yesterday before nap, after reading Arnie the Donut that Mr. ??? ate Arnie and asked me why. Upon awakening from her nap, she asked again, why did Mr. ??? eat Arnie. We looked at the book and the pictures again so tht she could know that Mr. ??? did NOT eat Arnie.

"Oh, she says, he is like the dog." Yes, Lu. The dough-dog. Such a sweetheart and smart beyond my understanding. Maybe I have just forgotten how smart 3 year-olds are.
