A Bad Idea

This afternoon I found Lucy in her room. Holding a golf club aloft. As near to the ceiling fan as she could get it. Standing on tiptoe. As though to stick the golf club in the ceiling fan. Which was turned on.

Some questions came to mind:
1) Why did she have a golf club?
2) Why did she want to stick it in the ceiling fan?
3) What would have happened if she'd been 4 inches taller?

Oh, and why wasn't she being supervised? All I know is, when I was little, I played with dolls and books. When her dad was little, he cut his leg open with a saw and set the desert on fire. You be the judge of whose genes are winning.

Do you REALLY want to get into the "dumb things I did as a kid," contest?

What wonderful curiosity Lu possesses; it’s a sign of her enormous intellectual capacity and future success as a genius-child.

“What would happen if I stuck this golf club in the ceiling fan?” She’s going to become an experimental scientist if she continues to ask those “what if” questions.

Until then, someone please tell Lu that it’s much more entertaining to throw stuffed animals into the fan and watch them fly across the room. And buy the child a helmet and safety goggles before she grows four more inches.

She is so smart and inquisitive. Lucy does the same thing at my house with my dust mop. So far, so good - no hit ceiling fan - yet. I love her "why, Granny?" questions. I have started to say, "just because, Lucy". "But why?", Granny". I give up and say I just do not know.
